Easter Celebrations (March/April). Many processions and events. Between Palm Sunday and Easter Sunday. ** Roman parade ** Easter parade ** In Verges (a 30-minute drive from Girona) they have La Dansa de la Mort (the dance of death) on Easter Thursday.<ref>https://www.barcelonayellow.com/bcn-tourist/570-la-danza-de-la-muerte-de-verges-dance-of-death</ref> People dress up as skeletons, carrying scythes and clocks, and move through the medieval streets in an eerie procession. It’s one of the strangest Easter events in Spain and draws big crowds every year. There’s a small entry fee to watch it. * Sant Jordi Festival (April 23) – Catalonia's equivalent of Valentine's Day. ** Streets fill with book and rose stalls. ** Traditional gift exchange: Men give roses, women give books (but you can do both!). ** Shops remain open, it’s not a bank holiday. <h2>May</h2> * Girona Flower Festival (Temps de Flors) – A major annual event. ** Free access to historic sites like the Arab Baths. ** One-way system in place due to large crowds. <h2>June</h2> * Revetlla de Sant Joan (June 23-24) – Fireworks, bonfires, and beach parties. ** Popular beach spots: Tossa de Mar, Palamós, L’Estartit. ** Girona’s main bonfire at Parc de Vista Alegre. ** Festival Ítaca in L’Estartit – Paid beachside concerts. ** Canigó Flame lighting at Plaça Catalunya. ** Processions from Plaça de Vi to the Cathedral. ** Community dinner at Plaça de l’Assumpció. * La Patum Festival (Berga) – Traditional Catalan fire festival. <h2>July</h2> * Tempo Festival – Live music in Girona. * Blanes Fireworks Competition – A multi-night fireworks festival. * Celrà Tastets Festival – A local food and cultural festival. * GiroBeer Festival – Craft beer-tasting event. <h2>August</h2> (No major events currently listed – but plenty of beach fun in Costa Brava!) <h2>September</h2> * Festival Onirik – Annual arts and music festival in Girona. <h2>October</h2> * Fires de Sant Narcís (Late October – Early November) – Girona’s biggest festival. ** Correfocs (fire runs) and Correfoc Infantil (child-friendly version). ** Les Fires - Big fairground at La Devesa. ** La Copa (Devesa Park) – Outdoor festival area with live music, food stands. The food stands area is called Les Barraques. * Oktoberfest Girona – Held at Devesa Park. Tables sell out quickly. * Zombie Walk (October 31). * Girocomic (Girona's annual comic-con) <h2>November</h2> * La Castanyada (November 1) – Chestnut Festival, similar to Halloween. * Girona Christmas Parade & Lights (November 29) ** Parade at 5 PM, Christmas lights switch-on at 6 PM. <h2>December</h2> * Acocollonat Short Film Festival – Includes a painting competition and a 24-hour film contest. * Circ Nadal Girona – A circus performance with acrobatics and stunts. * Christmas Events: ** Where to buy Christmas trees: Jardi Banyoles, Centre Verd Girona, Bauhaus, El Sitjar. ** Catalan Christmas Bingo – Quina. * New Year's Eve Celebrations ** Midnight bells at Girona Cathedral & Plaça dels Apòstols. ** Street celebrations continue at Plaça Independència. * Ice skating at Fira de Girona (Dec 21 – Jan 6).
