The main language in Girona is Catalan, followed by Spanish and English.

Locals speak both Catalan and Spanish, but it's a good idea to learn Catalan to integrate better.

If you already know Spanish, then learning Catalan is relatively straightforward because lots of the grammar and vocabulary is similar.

Free Catalan resources

Consorci per a la Normalització Lingüística (CPNL)

Free Catalan courses are available up to C1 level through the Consorci per a la Normalització Lingüística (CPNL). These courses include both intensive and non-intensive options, as well as online classes.

Other resources

There is also Voluntariat per la Llengua, which is a free language buddy program to practice Catalan.

There is a free Catalan conversation group that meets on Saturdays at La Taverna. The group is run by Marc. The Instagram is @conversa_catala_girona. Message Marc via Instagram to ask to become a member of the WhatsApp group
