The main language in Girona is Catalan, followed by Spanish and English.
Locals speak both Catalan and Spanish, but it's a good idea to learn Catalan to integrate better.
If you already know Spanish, then learning Catalan is relatively straightforward because lots of the grammar and vocabulary is similar.

Consorci per a la Normalització Lingüística (CPNL)
Free Catalan courses are available up to C1 level through the Consorci per a la Normalització Lingüística (CPNL). These courses include both intensive and non-intensive options, as well as online classes.

There is also Voluntariat per la Llengua, which is a free language buddy program to practice Catalan.

There are 4-5 language academies in Girona. These include:
- EOI Girona (Escola Oficial d’Idiomes). Affordable Spanish & Catalan courses. Recommended by locals for quality teaching. Group classes.
- Up Idioma offers Spanish courses (A1-B1) in Girona.
- Private tutors are also available, but prices vary (e.g., €15/hour for private lessons).
