La Mercè is a council-run cultural centre in the Barri Vell. They have the Escola Municipal d'Art (EMA) which do art classes. Each course starts in September and ends in June, so you have to register in advance. Classes include sculpture, textiles, oil, watercolor, and life drawing. Museu d'Art de Girona (Girona Art Museum) is free to enter on the first Sunday of every month, otherwise the entry fee is €6.

Acocoexpres is a short film competition in Girona. It takes place around October to December. Participants have 24 hours to make a short horror or fantasy-themed film.
Correcurts is another short film competition, this one in Cassa de la Selva every February.
