You're arriving in Girona! You might be coming by plane or maybe you're driving.

Getting from Girona airport to Girona

Landing at Girona airport? Girona's airport is called Girona-Costa Brava Airport. It's about 10 km from the city.

There are two ways to get from Girona airport to Girona: bus or taxi.

Taxi. A taxi from Girona Airport to Girona is €25–30. The taxi rank is just outside the arrivals terminal. Often, there'll be a queue.

Tip: Ask people in the queue if they're also going to Girona and if they want to share a taxi with you. That way you can split the taxi cost with other people.

Bus. There's a bus that goes from Girona Airport to Girona city centre, it costs around 2 euro.

Getting from Barcelona airport to Girona

The next nearest airport to Girona is Barcelona airport. If you've just landed in Barcelona, there are three ways to get to Girona: bus, train, or taxi.

Bus

Barcelona has 2 terminals. Buses leave from terminal 1 which take you to Girona bus station. They leave from bus station platform 10, 11 or 12.

According to Google Maps, the buses that go direct from the airport to Girona are the 602 and 603. They're run by a company called Sagalés AirportLine. Times are on the Sagales website.

Train

There are two trains to get – from one the airport to Barcelona Sants train station, and then antoher from Barcelona Sants train station to Girona train station.

Part 1: Train from Barcelona airport to Barcelona Sants train station

When you arrive at Barcelona airport and you’ve gotten through passport control, look for this sign:

It’s the sign for the shuttle bus that goes between terminals.

Get on that bus and get off at T2B (terminal 2B)

Then look for this sign:

It’s for the train to Barcelona Sants

So follow that sign to the airport train station, then buy a ticket at the machines to Barcelona Sants

By the way, don’t follow this sign as it’s for the metro. Not the same thing as the train.

Part 2: Train from Barcelona Sants train station to Girona

Once at Barcelona Sants, you can buy a ticket for the train to Girona train station

The trains from Barcelona to Girona can be confusing though, because there's two types: the slow trains (which take about 1.5 hours) and the fast trains (which take 40 minutes). You want to get a fast train if possible

to get a ticket for the fast train, look for the ticket booths that have "Larga Distancia" above them. That means "long distance". The booths for the slow train have "Media Distancia" above them, which means "medium distance"

Another option is to take a taxi from the airport to Barcelona Sants train station. It takes 10 minutes and cost around €25.

And you could get one from the terminal you arrive in, Terminal 1.

Taxi

Taxi is the most convenient, but it costs around €150, so not affordable for most people.
