Transport in Girona
Girona is small so it's easy to get around. There's no metro or tram, just bus services. You can use the city's bike rental scheme Girocleta to cycle, or you can see the city just by walking.
Parking
Car parks are typically underground. Free parking is available near Parc del Migdia (where?) and the roundabout near La Devesa (between the rivers).
Buses
- Girona has 10 local bus routes.[1] City buses are generally on time, with minor delays of a few minutes. You can pay with cash or by tapping your bank card.
See bus routes at https://web2.girona.cat/tmg/cat/bus_linies.php
The easiest way to plan a bus trip is with google maps: https://www.google.es/maps
Coaches
The coach station ("Estació d'Autobusos de Girona") is underground, at Plaça Espanya.
Coach tickets are easier to buy at the coach station ticket booths rather than online.
Coach timetables are printed and stuck to the wall next to the ticket booths.
Trains
Girona has two train stations:
- Above-ground station (for slow regional trains).
- Underground station (for the high-speed train, and it's also where the coach station is located).
It's best to check train routes in person.
Bono Recurrente (Recurrent Travel Ticket) Refunds:
- Refunds start after the 15th of the month.
- Cash payments require presenting the ticket and providing a bank account number.
- Card payments are refunded automatically.
Airport
- Sagalés Bus Service connects Girona with the airport, departing from the post office area. An app is available for schedules and ticket purchases.
Taxis
There is no Uber or similar ride-sharing app in Girona.
A taxi company called GiTaxi offers pre-booking services.
Taxi costs:
- A taxi from Girona Airport to the city costs approximately €25–30.
- The standard taxi rate from Girona to Barcelona is €150.
Ride-Sharing
There are Facebook groups for ride-sharing and taxi alternatives.
